How We Research Products
Our articles are research-led, not disguised hands-on tests. We compare current manufacturer specifications, manuals, included accessories, warranty information, and retailer availability. We then translate those details into buyer fit: where a detector should work well, what it asks the owner to learn, and which limitations matter before purchase.
We do not claim that specifications prove field performance. Where a conclusion depends on soil, salt, mineralization, target position, settings, or user technique, the article says so.
How Recommendations Are Chosen
A recommendation must match the article’s stated intent. A budget roundup should stay inside its price ceiling at the review date. A saltwater guide must distinguish dry sand from conductive wet salt. A beginner pick should not win merely because it has the longest feature list.
Older detectors may remain useful on the used market. When an article covers a discontinued or superseded model, we label that context instead of presenting it as the default new purchase.
